It's Official

About three weeks ago when my mom bought Halloween costumes for Rhett and Emmie it started to feel like fall. The week after that I went through a Starbucks drive thru and ordered a pumkin spice latte and fall felt even closer. To top it off my friend gave me orange gerber daises because it's my favorite flower and because they reminded her of "fall."

However any occurrence of fall being here was quickly aborted when we attended Garrett's "pool birthday party" and yes it was warm enough to swim a week ago today. I finally went on a family outing wearing jeans but came home to re-organize my closet keeping all of my tank tops still hanging in the "wear almost everyday" category.

This week hope was reborn. Our church put the sign out for the upcoming Family Fall Festival on October 31 which is a sure sign of fall at its best. When we dropped off Rhett for pre-school wearing brown corduroy pants we were inundated with papers announcing upcoming fall events. Nothing says fall like pre-school open house, a field trip to a pumkin patch and most of all several little tikes in a halloween costume parade. Today while shopping with my mom I thought to myself it must be fall if we're shopping for Christmas outfits already for the kids. Today was the first day I had any thoughts of Christmas. For the record Christmas is 79 days away and I have not purchased one gift yet but the malls are starting to heat up already. All of these happenings indeed helped my mind move over to the new season but tonight at bedtime it became "OFFICIALLY FALL." Tonight we brought out the footisie pajamas.

After taking this picture Rhett took off his pjs and ran outside with his dad in nothing but undies. At 8 pm Rhett was outside almost naked and not one goose bump on him. Okay I retract everything I said. It's not fall.
