Quality Entertainment

Other than the Office and a few rented movies here and there I have not been into watching TV much lately. I've never been a big TV watcher. I watch it more to spend time with my husband and now I watch Disney movies to spend time with my son. However today was an exception.

I came home from church and felt like watching TV while eating lunch. It must have been a sign from the Lord because when I turned on the tube one of my all time favorite movies Breakfast at Tiffany's was on. I read Truman Capote's book several years ago and enjoyed it so much I had to watch the movie. This was the first exposure I had to Audrey Hepburn. I loved her. I thought she was the most beautiful, graceful women ever and I can't believe Truman Capote actually said he wanted to throw up after seeing the movie. Since then I've seen every movie Audrey Hepburn has been in and the fact that my daughter's name is Emersen and not Audrey is just short of a miracle.

This evening after the kids went to bed AGAIN I felt like watching TV. Maybe it's because one of my best friends gave us lots of yummy chocolate and peanut butter frozen yogurt today and I had to have an excuse to lay on the couch and eat it constantly. This time although lightly entertained but certainly not as much as earlier I watched You're the One That I Want. I'm not too sure about this show. Usually these reality American Idol wannabe shows get pretty good the farther they go into the selection process. This one needs a lot of help but I was amused and enjoying my yogurt.

On the same channel right afterwards came one of my old favorite shows the Apprentice. There was a time this was my all time favorite show and I wouldn't miss it for anything. They have made some changes this season and I've lost interest. The team that wins gets to stay inside the huge, beautiful Hollywood mansion while the team that loses has to sleep outside in tents. Not only do they sleep outside but they have to get ready outside entirely and cannot step foot in the mansion. It looks like the same team keeps winning so I think the same team has been sleeping outside since the beginning of the show. All I can say is if I was on that losing team I would be one big fat BITTER lady. These poor people probably busted their butt to audition and come up with a dynamic video and resume etc. to get on the show. I know the point is to work for Donald Trump but staying in a penthouse in New York City or a Hollywood mansion isn't too shabby either. Imagine their surprise when they found out they had to sleep with insects and roast weenies in the backyard every night. If that's not bad enough I just feel for those girls that have to make themselves look presentable for Donald and national television by doing their hair and makeup outside using windows as mirrors. I'm sure y'all are thinking how naive I am and want to tell me they still have makeup and wardrobe to help out with those things. I don't care, I think it's depressing and I'm not going to watch it anymore.

After the Apprentice I really wanted to end my TV marathon on a good note plus I still had more yogurt so I convinced Rod to watch a pre-recorded episode of Studio 60 with me. I love the characters on this show and the actors that play them. Although I was a fan of the show Friends I didn't care all that much about Matthew Perry. I really like him in this more serious role. I've always liked Bradley Whitford since West Wing especially since his Emmy acceptance speech for supporting actor in 2001. I also like watching Amanda Peet and Sarah Paulson. Sarah plays a character named Harriet Hayes who is a Christian and ex-girlfriend of Matthew Perry's character. It's refreshing for me to have Hollywood depict "the Christian" character as one of the most attractive, likable, talented ones. I really like the chemistry between Matthew Perry's character Matt and Bradley Whitford's character Danny. The romantic story lines are also of good merit and worth my watching. I have to say Aaron Sorkin who writes and produces the show is one talented guy. I think he is the kind of guy that if I actually met him I woudn't like him but since he's pretty easy on the eyes to look at I'll keep enjoying him from a far. This episode we watched was their Christmas show. The main sketch they ended up doing for Christmas was a few guys from New Orleans playing O Holy Night on their trumpets and saxophones while images of New Orleans appeared in the background. It was good stuff. Now if anyone wants to have a Studio 60 party instead of another show that I prefer not to mention, that I would attend.

I'm with you on The Apprentice. It used to be a "must see" but the tent thing is just not fair. I'm over it. Sometimes it's nice to have a TV day although the day after I'm usually really ready to get out of the house. Yeah for Yogurt Mill!

I would have totally had a Studio 60 party, but it is back on tonight. Maybe I will try to convince you to stay all day and watch it with me at 10pm.:)
