Tomorrow marks a pretty cool day. We have a friend that my husband and I have both known for awhile in fact before we were married. I knew him through the singles crowd at our church and R knew him through serving in ministry. Anyways over the years he has become a great friend to my husband and our family. Even my dad used to tell us how much he likes Steve. He said he could tell he was a man of strong integrity, character and kindness and an overall good guy. He made this assessment after spending only two hours with him. I'm sure my dad would have been thrilled to know he sang at his funeral.
I love the unique friendship Steve and Rod have. Lauren and I joke around that their common bond is food. Especially Costco, L&L and McDonalds Fish Filet's. They also seem to connect on a very deep level over any kind of sports game. I always know when R is on the phone with him because Steve is the only guy Rod refers to as "bro." Regardless what the topic of conversation is I know my husband feels comfortable being himself no pretense or facade. No matter what R may say or do Steve is never surprised or rattled by it. He knows him pretty well by now and loves him unconditionally. I thank God for the blessing of their friendship.
Steve,
I want to be the one of the first ones to celebrate you and say HAPPY BIRTHDAY! You are a cool community guy, fun friend, fabulous father, spectacular singer, choice chef and brilliant blogger. Thank you for loving my family and doing life with us. Have a fabulous day!!
Love,
The Kaya's
Oh by they way he also has a very charming, beautiful wife who designs great headers.

Great ode to a great guy.
Thanks for doing it.
The Phillipson's love him, too.
Happy Birthday, Steve!
Great new layout, sis.
Totally agree wholeheartedly! We love you too Steve and are honored to be able to call you our friend!
Thanks for this T. Sweet.
I'll never forget the talk about Costco's $50 2 for 1 fan! That was the conversation of our entire evening together if I remember correctly. I think they both went out and bought one of those fans for every room in the house.
T,
This truly was a great gift to me. Your words were very kind and heartwarming. I remember the hours with your Dad like they were yesterday. He was one of five favorite people of mine at Journey. Thanks for balancing my friend R out, it's been really cool to see him as a single guy and then watch him grow into a great husband and father.
Thanks again!
