Yesterday I had a break from the kids for 24 whole hours. It was sooooo nice to sleep in, fix my coffee without holding a 25+ lb toddler and actually have a decent quiet time. As a bonus I got to sit in and watch our church's Christmas Eve service run throughs. Then the kids came home and Rhett screamed for Nana for almost an hour while Rod and I thought to ourselves this torture almost completely elimitates the joy we had just experienced on our kid break. He finally came to his senses after realizing if he actually moves in with Nana (a suitcase was already getting packed not by Rhett, by Rod) he could not bring his toys, or more importantly upcoming Christmas presents or his sister. Of coarse he did not want to bring his parents with him because evidently we were the reason he wanted to move in with her in the first place, well that and because according to Rhett she gives him whatever he wants. Anyway, we all survived and Rhett is back to loving us and his home and looking forward to just visiting with Nana rather than moving in which is really good because I highly doubt my mom or even more so her future husband plan on having a strong willed four year old join their new life together.
This morning I awoke to Emmie having a nasty cold splattered all over her face which is causing her to scream every 5 seconds or so unless I'm constantly holding her. Today I'm planning on grabbing my sick child, my happy child (it is Christmas Eve and he knows he's getting a present today although he doesn't know it's just jammies plus he got to pick out his clothes today) and heading to the grocery store to get some things to make soup. If you're out and about and wondering who those two kids eating candy canes are at 10 in the morning with one having snot all over her face and the other wearing red socks, navy, light blue and white plaid shorts, a yellow, blue and white striped shirt with a yellow and green plaid button down shirt inside out over the first shirt no need to wonder just say hi...... but from a distance since were germ infested. We will be heading to church for Christmas Eve services and then some friends are coming over for soup and bread. Rod is pretty much out of touch today since it's a major work day for him but thats ok with me because we have him all day tomorrow not to mention the next few weeks :).
Tomorrow morning Nana, Ande and Mike will be over for breakfast and presents. I keep reminding Rhett that he should get something ready to give to Jesus tomorrow but he keeps telling me it won't work because his present would have to die to get to him. I'm not sure Rhett is comprehending the whole Immanuel- God is With Us thing yet. I on the other hand do get it thankfully. Only Jesus would want to join me on this ride today.
MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL!
